TAP would like to express our gratitude to those of you who chose to honor TAP with a contribution and especially to those of you who contributed anonymously—whom we cannot thank personally, but are so  moved by your support of our work and mission.  We also send a shout out! to Patsy Woods Martin and the good folks at I Live Here, I Give Here for their imaginative and well organized effort on behalf of so many organizations and Austin community needs. Help TAP to : LIFT UP families and neighborhoods through our school-based Family Resource Centers in greater Dove Springs and in Central East Austin.  We serve/work with 3500 families a year through evidence-based case management, campus coordination of services, production of community wide health fairs, school transition programs for middle schools and elementary schools across the City.

GROW: Safe schools, Healthy Students and Families by serving as a coordinator of school-based support services and resources, by linking and leveraging thousands of dollars that support low income schools, by advocating for and developing impactful school and community partnerships through monthly Community/School Alliance meetings in each community TAP serves.

PROMOTE EARLY LITERACY: through partnerships with UT Austin and TAP that provide outstanding Tutor/Mentors for children at Ortega Elementary School.  More than 14,000 hours of tutoring for more than 1,400 children, with 91% showing improved academic performance and engagement in school since 2005!

This is the second year that TAP and SafePlace have partnered to offer workshops to prepare parents for their child’s transition into middle school. This year we were pleased to incorporate a new parent-youth dialogue that allowed parents and kids to share what they had learned in their individual workshop sessions as well as their hopes and fears about the transition to a new school.  We’ve had some great feedback from attendees so far, and we look forward to meeting even more families at our future workshops.
